IGLOOFEST 2013 : Artist Picks
2013 kicks off with a chill and a half as Igloofest starts this Thursday the 17th Of January with 4 electronic music filled weekends.
Here’s a list of the DJ’s to watch out for:
Satarting with the first day 17th of January - Thursday
RICHIE G
A hugely and prodigiously talented eighteen-year-old electronic music producer from Montreal who has previously remixed for Traum and John Digweed’s Bedrock, producing his first remix for these labels at fifteen.
He has received great support from within the Montreal scene and from this springboard has also received the support of major name DJs such as Sasha, John Digweed, James Zabiela and Hernan Cattaneo. 2013 will be the start of something big for lil G.
WOLF + LAMB
From Zev’s savvy design and production, to Gadi’s talent for sniffing out path breaking artists to bring into the fold, there’s a knack they have for making it all hold together + they completely owned it and Piknic Electronik last season.
Mistress barbara
The queen of big crowds
JAN 19th – Saturday
PAOLO ROCCO
While EverybodyKnows features many artists at their events, one of our favourite produces and technical mixers would have to be Paolo. We are confident that this night will start with full force and energy. 2012 was one heck of a year for the young producer with Move body move forward hitting top 10 in the top 100 beatport deep house and landing in the top 25 on the main chart
Our favorite - That i am also sat comfortably in the top charts.
Josh Wink
The Philly native pioneered the American rave scene during the early 1990s. With 23 years of DJ experience in his DJ bag – Josh is no stranger to banging a killer set in arctic conditions in front of a crowd of over 7,000 people.
Other artists worth Knowing are PIU PIU.
Jan 24th – thursday
Women take over of Igloofest
Alicia Hush
With her roots in Toronto, and her new home in Montreal Alicia,Co-founder of Hushlamb Productions, contributes to the vitality of her hometown by signing a steady stream of emerging local artists to her growing talent roster. We like the sound of that and we think you’ll like the sound of what’s above.
Miss Kitten
Requires no description. In short she i sa French electronic music DJ, singer, and songwriter. Since rising to prominence in 1998 for her singles “1982” and “Frank Sinatra” with The Hacker she has released dark and promiscuous tracks like these below.
&
NYMRA & SOFISTICATED (Virgin Igloo Stage)
Having been friends since the age of 14, these two present a smooth blend of track which they have exhibited at countless performances. they have played at Stereo, Stereobar, Club UN, Belmont, Passeport, Circus Afterhours, Piknic Electronik. Having just returned from playing at the BPM festival in Mexico, it’s no question that the beach and tan will only add deeper and groovier sounds that will leave the crowd inside the igloo warmer than than everyone else.
JAN 25th – Friday
NINA Kravitz
The beautiful stunner, lays down the heat. The Russian minimal house and techno, Tsarina, has always been a Montreal favorite. Aside from here track Ghetto Kraviz on endless rotation in the passed 2 years look forward to some of her newer “less ghetto” releases.
&
PAN POT
Did someone ask for a side of Berlin Techno?
Mobilee’s Pan-Pot is an entirely different proposition, a duo whose mastery of audio principles allows them to turn conventions on their heads, casting functionality aside as they plumb the deep, uncharted depths of pitch-black techno.
JAN 26th – Saturday
TNGHT
Montreal’s Lunice and Hudson Mohawke are one of the biggest artists in the world today and one of the pioneers of ghetto house and trap music. Their hit track higher ground (above) rocks every club to the core.
Below is a sneak peak from their new track featuring Kanye West.
Kaytranada
local artist creating the last buzz along the land and certainly roaring around the internet realm will surley be the next artist to watch out for. Kaytranada as also been on the bill with EverybodyKnows at the Bondax show last month. Keep your ear out for old school 90s hip hop with a twist of bass. He’ll be rocking some sick Pajar gear that night that’s suppose to bring more heat to their music.
FEB 2nd – Saturday
Audiofly
Luca Saporito & Ant Middleton have set the tone for so many years on the circuit. One of the very few artists that are constantly evolving and always pushing the edge of the genre that’s hot right now. Montreal is famed to be one of their favorite locations to play but lets see if they can even push the boundaries of the weather.
Fun fact: One of them looks like the Co-founder of EverybodyKnows. Lets see if you could guess which one
AGORIA
French Electronic pioneer destined to take you on a cool(but not that cold) atmospheric trip.
FEB 9th – Saturday
CHRIS LIEBING – Techno god
Chris Liebing is a Techno pioneer, dj, producer, CLR podcast host, radio host and the driving force behind CLR
MOODY JONES (Virgin Igloo Stage)
The opposite of Techno and the end of the festival from inside the Virgin Igloo. After his performance at the DirtyBird BBQ at Piknic Electronik this year – it became clear that Moody Jones is more than just a man composed of raw, dirty and deep house with a sexy touch of golden age Hip hop but a crowd of entourages that know their music and know how to melt the igloo down.
More Knows to come – Please let us know if you think someone else should be on the list by leaving a comment down below.
